Hand Sanitizer, The Ellen's Way...

What do you do when you cannot find hand sanitizer? You make it yourself! What do you do when you cannot find the "traditional" ingredients to make hand sanitizer? Well folks, you go to the bar and use good old fashion spirits and science from Cal Tech! Thank goodness for those professors!

Below is the recipe we used in the video. Who knew grain alcohol had so many practical purposes.

HAND SANITIZER RECIPE

2 Glass Measuring Cups

1 750 mL bottle of 190 Proof Grain Alcohol (We used Mohawk Brand, but any will work)

1/2 Cup of Water

1 Tbs Glycerine (found on the baking isle!)

2 drops of Orange Essential Oil

Start out by pouring 1/2 cup of the grain alcohol into the first glass measuring cup. Set it aside for a fun little trick later. In a separate measuring cup add the water, glycerine and essential oil. Mix it well with a spoon, and then pour it back into the bottle with the grain alcohol. Put the cap back on and shake vigorously. And now you have Hand Sanitizer! Pour the mixture into smaller plastic bottles or leave in the bottle. You can use a bottle pump on the bottle or just pour it out.

Now what do we do with that 1/2 cup of grain alcohol? If you add 2/3 cup of distilled water and you have VODKA. Feel free to gently distill the mixture or just add to some Bloody Mary mix and #ItsBrunchOclock y'all!

If you make some of our fine sanitizer, please let us know! In fact, post an Instagram and tag us at @EllensBrunch with the hashtags #SafeAndSanitized

We will share your post on our Ellen's Social Media, and give you a shout out for being so very extra.

Enjoy!
